This still life value drawing is of an apple (central object), a blueberry (placed in the upper left hand corner), three little flowers (in the lower right hand corner), and placed in the lower left hand corner is a chestnut.
It is visibly clear to see the different values throughout this sketch.  For instance.  The the apple’s center has a visibly noticeable white spot where the light hit the apple as well as the darker outline, giving it a rounded and dimensional look.

The Purpose of this piece was to created space and dimension using parallel lines in cubes and rectangles to give the piece a special transition and meaning.

My piece moves from the right upper corner to the lower bottom center of the page where then the orange 3D rectangular shape is noticed.  The colors I have chosen shade my boxes are those of soft pastels.  The soft pastels give my piece a soft, light uplifting feel to it.

The way my shapes are arranged in a loosely  imperfect stack and vary in size, cause the eye to move left to right and up and down to give some interest to the piece.  The unity of this piece is found once again through the soft  pastel colors and physical square to rectangular shapes.

The central theme in my collage is simulated texture.  I used magazine cut-out pieces of color, ranging in value from lemon yellow to crimson.  My piece moves from the upper right hand corner where the darker color values draw the eye diagonally downward to the lower left corner.

The colors I have selected for my collage convey to me a low, steady rhythm which is interrupted by flashes of vivacious colors which draw my eyes to notice other components of lines, forms and textures throughout the piece.

The unity of this piece is found through its likeness in colors and physical shape of the cutout pieces which are all square to rectangular.
